Tidiane is responsible for the Westcon business across Sub-Saharan African, covering 48 countries and the Collaboration, Security and Microsoft technology practices.

Progression

I joined Westcon in 2011 as a Regional Sales Manager looking after French West and Central Africa, based in Dakar-Senegal. I chose the business because of its geographical footprint; in fact, it was the only distributor with genuine EMEA and global coverage, with plans in place to expand and grow operations further in Africa. By 2015, I was in charge of the business process outsourcing (BPO) programme and SAP implementation for Africa, before becoming Sales Excellence Lead to drive operational excellence.

 

Workplace culture

I enjoy working here because of the company values, the structure and opportunities to grow and build a career plan. The workplace environment really allows staff to reach their potential as I believe there is always a room to do more and achieve more – the sky is the limit. Personally, coaching, training and strong leadership have made a real impact on my career here.

 

Highlights

My best day? My nomination for the 2013 President Club was recognition for my hard work, dedication and commitment to the job and to the company. I’m really proud of the opening of the Senegal office in 2012 too, and especially managing the successful SAP implementation in Africa – it was a very complex and challenging project.

 

Opportunity

My advice to colleagues and anyone looking to join Westcon-Comstor is to be focused, define your objectives, be coachable and pay attention to detail – because opportunities can open up and happen earlier than expected, and the sky's the limit!
