We recently attended the Canalys Forum APAC 2023 in Bangkok and were part of three panels discussing the latest trends in the IT channel. Last month, we explored minimising attack surfaces after Daniel Hurel attended the Canalys Forum EMEA. In APAC, some different and unique insights came out surrounding generative AI cybersecurity.

The emergence of generative AI has transformed the way we approach innovation and problem-solving. Unlike traditional products requiring a learning curve for sales and partnerships, generative AI cybersecurity isn’t a standalone thing to be sold. Instead, it’s a dynamic force, integrating itself into the technology we offer today.

The key to unlocking this potential lies not in positioning ourselves as vendors but in understanding how to harness it to guide our partners and customers towards reaping its benefits in their businesses.

Melita Brooke – Westcon Director, Partner Management had this to say about how you should view generative AI.

“In the transformative landscape of generative AI, we’re not selling a product – we’re guides, unlocking AI’s potential for you. Embrace it as an inherent force in your business transformation journey. We need to shape the future of technology together.”

Don’t put generative AI in a box

The prevailing notion that generative AI cybersecurity will be a standalone product or service, akin to traditional software solutions, is rapidly becoming outdated. Instead, generative AI is poised to seamlessly integrate into the very fabric of our everyday technologies, becoming an inherent part of the tools and applications we rely on.

Generative AI cybersecurity is fast emerging from the niche technology category. It’s becoming part of the broader technological landscape. As businesses strive for competitiveness and innovation, grasping the intricacies of generative AI and seamlessly incorporating it into daily operations will be a huge differentiating factor.

We must move beyond thinking simply of selling generative AI as a product and embrace its role as an enabler.

Rethink how you view generative AI cybersecurity solutions

Imagine a world where generative AI generates code that streamlines and democratises development processes. A quarter of all code will be produced by individuals without formal programming training by 2026. This future is not far-fetched; it is an inevitability that demands proactive adaptation.

Companies must foster a culture of curiosity and innovation within teams, encouraging them to explore the possibilities that generative AI cybersecurity brings to the table. By doing so, we position ourselves as leaders in the industry and empower our customers to navigate the complexities of this new technology.

Jason Lee – Regional Assistant Marketing Manager, Weston had this to say about the prevalence of generative AI.

“It’s not a question of if generative AI will be prevalent, but rather how effectively and seamlessly it weaves into the fabric of our technological landscape. Embrace it, and Westcon will be here to help you pioneer the way forward in the era of generative AI.”

Embrace the change generative AI cybersecurity brings

Rapid technological change and disruption often causes fear among people that their roles or livelihoods might be adversely affected. We were reminded during sessions at Canalys that those who embrace the use of AI in their roles and businesses will indeed grow and prosper.

The era of generative AI cybersecurity is upon us, and those who embrace it will undoubtedly lead the way in shaping the future of technology. Let us not be bystanders in the face of this technological revolution; let us become the architects of its success.
