Our story

Westcon-Comstor is a global technology distributor specialising in cybersecurity, networking, and hybrid cloud solutions.

We bridge the gap between IT partners and leading technology vendors, empowering partners to seize opportunities and turn them into growth. With data driven insights and over 40 years of value-added distribution expertise, we help our partners navigate change, uncover new possibilities, drive innovation, and deliver real value to their customers across the IT channel.

Our journey

In 1985, Thomas Dolan, Philip Raffiani and Roman Michalowski founded Westcon Associates in an upstate New York garage.

Westcon helped change the way computer products were sold, adding value by delivering technical support and training, as well as marketing and financing to small businesses.

In 1998, the business consolidated its value-added IT distribution operations under the name Westcon Group. Comstor was brought into the fold a year later to create the business we know today – Westcon‑Comstor.

Jens Montanana

Executive Chairman

Read bioJens is the founder and principal architect of Datatec, established in 1986 and Westcon-Comstor’s parent company. Between 1989 and 1993, Jens served as Managing Director and Vice-President of US Robotics (UK) Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of US Robotics, Inc. which was acquired by 3Com in 1997. In 1993 he co-founded US start-up Xedia Corporation, which was subsequently sold to Lucent Corporation in 1999. In 1994 Jens became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Datatec. Jens graduated with a degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Reading.

David Grant

Chief Executive Officer

Read bioDavid has three decades of experience in channel business leadership and distribution, including sales, marketing, investment and executive roles. Most recently David served as the company’s COO and EVP Global Partner Sales & Operations. He joined Westcon-Comstor in 2008 through the acquisition of the venture capital backed distribution business, Crane, where he was CEO. Prior to this he held a number of sales and leadership roles at Canon. David’s credentials include a BSc, Brunel University and the Senior Executive Programme at Henley Management College.

Callum McGregor

Chief Operating Officer & Group Chief Financial Officer

Read bioWith more than 15 years in the Datatec Group, Callum now serves as Chief Finance Officer for Westcon-Comstor International. Joining Westcon-Comstor International in 2014 as Services Director of Finance, he has also held roles of Vice President of Finance for Cloud and Vice President of Group Finance & Operations. Callum began his career with Deloitte, South Africa, qualifying as a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. Callum is also qualified as a Certified Information Systems Auditor and holds international affiliate membership with ISACA and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He holds a BComm Honors degree from the University of Johannesburg.

René Klein

Executive Vice President Westcon-Comstor Europe

Read bioBased in Houten, Netherlands, René leads the Westcon-Comstor business in Europe. Since joining the company in 2007 from Crane Telecommunications, René has held a series of country and regional sales leadership roles that include Westcon Convergence in Benelux, France, DACH and Eastern Europe, as well as Westcon-Comstor group in northern Europe. René has previously held leadership roles in VolkerWessels and Distritel, a Dutch value-added distributor. René is a graduate from the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences.

Patrick Aronson

Chief Marketing Officer & Executive Vice President – APAC

Read bioPatrick is responsible for the company's business performance across south-east Asia, Greater China, Japan, Korea, Australia and New Zealand. Previously Vice President of Asia, he was responsible for growing the region's Comstor, Westcon Security Solutions and Services businesses. Prior to joining, Patrick spent a decade leading Motorola's mobile business in south-east Asia. He also spent five years as Managing Director at Brightstar where he developed its engagement strategy and mobility business. Patrick has a bachelor's degree in Economics and Asian Studies from Hobart College, New York, and is fluent in Vietnamese and Thai. Patrick also serves as the company’s Chief Marketing Officer.

Rakesh Parbhoo

Executive Vice President, Westcon-Comstor MEA

Read bioHaving been with the business since 2017, Rakesh has held several senior roles within Westcon-Comstor, including CEO of the Sub-Saharan Africa region and Chief Technology Officer. Today, Rakesh holds the position of Executive Vice President for MEA and is responsible for the company’s strategy and business performance across Middle East and Africa.

Erna de Ruijter-Quist

Chief People Officer

Read bioErna joined Westcon-Comstor in 2023 and is responsible globally for people and development. Before joining Westcon-Comstor, she held international leadership roles at Sage, HSBC, Virgin Media, Liberty Global, Sony and GE Capital. Erna’s focus is on organisational development, organisation design and change management to accelerate the company’s transformation, as well as further embedding a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Born and raised in the Netherlands, Erna is now living in the UK.

Dwight Pitter

Chief Information Officer

Read bioAs CIO, Dwight is responsible for design and deployment of company-wide technology systems. Since joining in 2015, he has led our digital transformation and has been fundamental to the development of our digital distribution platforms. Dwight possesses 20 years of commercial experience across global enterprise solutions, e-commerce platforms, order management and CRM. He holds a degree in Computer Science from Southern Connecticut State University.

Aaron Rees

CEO Rebura and SVP AWS Business

Read bioAaron is the CEO and founder of Rebura, now an AWS Premier Services Partner. Since the acquisition, Aaron has played a key role in integrating Rebura’s deep AWS expertise into Westcon-Comstor’s broader go-to-market strategy, helping partners accelerate their cloud transformation journeys. His leadership continues to drive innovation and customer-centric solutions within the Westcon-Comstor ecosystem, particularly in the areas of cloud migration, DevOps, and managed services.

Russell Blackburn

SVP Digital Sales

Read bioRussell Blackburn is the Senior Vice President of Digital Sales at Westcon-Comstor, a global technology distributor. In this newly created role, he is responsible for driving the adoption of the company’s PartnerCentral marketplace and leading its digital sales transformation across the business. Prior to this, Russell held a senior position within the Cisco-focused Comstor division, where he contributed significantly to partner engagement and sales strategy. His promotion reflects Westcon-Comstor’s strategic emphasis on digital innovation, data-driven growth, and internal leadership development.
