Westcon-Comstor bolsters data-led sustainability strategy with ecoDriver
Technology distributor centralises European energy data to aid emission reduction drive
LONDON, UK – 11 December, 2025 – Westcon-Comstor, a global technology provider and specialist distributor, today announced a major step forward in its data-driven approach to reducing carbon emissions through a collaboration with ecoDriver, a leading provider of energy management and sustainability solutions.
Following a successful trial in three UK locations, ecoDriver and its delivery partner Powercor have implemented a new energy management system (EMS) that enables Westcon-Comstor to centralise electricity usage data from its sites across Europe.
The sub-metering system provides real-time, actionable insights into energy consumption and allows the distributor’s sustainability teams within the region to shift their focus from manual administration to impactful, evidence-based action.
With a scalable approach and gradual rollout, Westcon-Comstor can access key data and remotely identify opportunities to reduce emissions across its European estate.
Examples include comparing building energy usage with occupancy patterns and local weather to eliminate hidden waste in cooperation with local teams.
As more sites are added to the ecoDriver system, Westcon-Comstor can gamify the data to promote planet-friendly behaviours by benchmarking buildings and running data-backed sustainability competitions between sites.
Ultimately, the collaboration with ecoDriver and Powercor will drive continuous, measurable improvements as Westcon-Comstor works toward its 2050 net-zero ambition and other sustainability targets, which were validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in 2023.
Westcon-Comstor’s latest annual Responsible Business report reveals that it now sources 50% of electricity globally from renewables – up from 42% last year – marking significant progress toward its goal of 100% by 2030.
Meanwhile the company is nearly halfway to its 2030 target of a 50% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions, defined as those that Westcon-Comstor owns or controls either directly or indirectly.
“Data is the cornerstone of our sustainability strategy, so we’re excited to be partnering with ecoDriver and Powercor on this important initiative,” said Sarah McGaw, Global Head of Environmental Sustainability at Westcon-Comstor. “Having access to a single source of truth for our energy and emissions across Europe will allows us to identify, quantify and act on opportunities to make further reductions in line with our ambitious climate targets and commitment to helping create a more sustainable IT channel.”
“Westcon-Comstor's partnership with ecoDriver is a clear example of how strategic sub-metering and intelligent software can identify inefficiencies and accelerate progress toward decarbonisation goals,” said Matthew Boyham, Sales Manager at ecoDriver. “We’re pleased to be working with them to help embed and enrich their data-driven approach to sustainability.”
