Copyright protects original works of authorship fixed in a tangible medium of expression. Copyright infringement occurs when any one or more of the following rights is violated:
- reproduction;
- adaptation;
- distribution to the public;
- performance in public; or
- display in public.
A copyright may be infringed when a new work or a modification of an existing work, known as a derivative work, is created from a copyrighted work. A “derivative work” is based upon a pre-existing work in which the pre-existing work is changed, condensed, recast, transformed, or otherwise adapted. If the pre-existing or underlying work is a protected work under copyright law, one who wishes to exploit the derivative work must obtain a license from the owner of the copyright in the underlying work or works. Thus, modification of Westcon copyrighted materials without explicit permission constitutes infringement.
Unless you receive express permission from an authorized Westcon representative, you may NOT:
- Copy, distribute, or reproduce Westcon materials in any form
- Modify or create derivative works by using Westcon materials as the basis
- Modify or create works in a way that seems to suggest such works were originally created or endorsed by Westcon
- Imitate color schemes or the overall appearance of Westcon materials
- Use Westcon icons as graphic elements in another work
